Biographical / Historical

Pascal Sébah is best known for his photographs of Turkey, Egypt and Greece. He had a studio called Sébah & Joaillier.

Adelphoi Zangaki was a studio owned by two brothers, C. and G. Zangaki, of Greek origin. Thgey were active as photographers in Ottoman Egypt from the 1860s through to the 1890s. They are best known for their photographs of the pyramids and ancient architecture.

Hippolyte Arnoux is known for being one of the first photographers to photograph Egypt and the Suez Canal. Little else is known about his life.

The three Abdullah brothers opened a studio in Constantinople in 1858 and photographed scenic views and notable individuals, including Sultans. The studio remained active until 1899.

Antonio Beato is best known for his views of architecture and landscapes in Egypt, as well as his portraits.

Hippolyte Béchard operated a studio in Cairo with his brother Emile in the 1870s. Emile is better known for the studio's photography. Hippolyte was known to sell the photographs from the studio.
